名词

主题 1 headache 和headaches

I've got a headache.

Headache 是一个可数名词。主句 I’ve got a headache是指一次性疼痛。如果经常头疼则应该说：

I often get headaches.

英语中还有一些带有ache 的词，如back-ache, earache, toothache 和stomach-ache. 这些词可作可数名词，也可作不可数名词（这与headache 不同）在英国英语中通常作不可数名词，所以不用冠词a/an也不用复数形式。

Mark has got stomach-ache.

但在美国英语中，指一次性的疼痛常用a stomach-ache, a toothache等来表示。

I’ve got a terrible toothache。

题 2：Holiday 和holidays

Where is Lucy going for her summer holiday(s) ?

在句子中，holiday用单数和复数所表示的意义不通：表示一，两天地短假期用单数holiday,如果用了holidays，在通常的情况下就是指较长的，好多天的时间了。

Jack likes to go to the sea during his holidays.

还要注意以下两点：
1， 在以下这类词组中holiday 总是用单数：five month’s holiday; two week’s holiday; on holiday
In this job you get two week’s holiday.
2， A holiday有时也指较长时间的一段休息期
William is tired of his office work and is longing for a holiday。
