<P>Soccer star David Beckham and his wife Victoria are suing their former nanny who told Britain's tabloid News of the World that the couple's marriage is on the rocks. Lawyers for the Beckhams argue that nanny Anny Gibson's contract included a promise not to speak about the couple's private lives. Gibson quit her job earlier this month after working for the couple since October of 2003. TheBeckhams are already suing News of the World over the publication last year of details of an alleged affair between David Beckham and his personal assistant Rebecca Loos. A Beckham spokeswoman said the couple plans to file suit over this story as well. But the tabloid said a high court judge ruled in its favor on grounds that the story was in the public interest,a sentiment shared by Public Relations manager Robert.K.<BR>"When you’ve seen the downside of the media, it's very difficult to be positive about the thought of creating a photo opportunity doing a deal. Attack, attack, attack, leads to defense, leads to a cornered animal, and so, of course they are gonna make mistakes, because they are in an impossible position. They're damned if they do, they're damned if they don't. And they look at it from a point of view of creating photo opportunities but not fueling the fire." Hayley Barlow, a spokeswoman for News of the World, said the tabloid was surprised by the Beckhams' actions and would offer a vigorous defense. <BR></P>
