The leaders of China and Japan have agreed to hold more direct meetings to help the countries reestablish and improve relations. Chinese President HU Jingtao and the Japan Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda made the promise Wednesday in a statement following their meeting in Tokyo. The two men also spoke with news reports. They said the two nations are close to an agreement on territorial dispute over the East China Sea and rights to its undersea nature gas supplies.
