1959年1月16日出生尼日利亚的Sade，4岁时随母亲举家迁往英国。80年代初期在圣马丁艺术学校(St. Martin's School Of Art)的求学期间，Sade组成生平的第一个乐团Arriva并尝试填词谱曲，Smooth Operator就是这个时期的作品。而后，她又加入一支八人乐团Pride，但因为唱片公司不看好他们，Sade于是退出Pride另组一支个人乐队， 在经纪人Lee Barrett的策划宣传之下，许多唱片公司都表示高度合作的意愿。最后在1984年1月Sade和CBS签下一纸合约。
1984年2月这位气质优雅、学艺术出身的美丽女子，以她的啼声之作Your Love Is King引起全球歌迷的注意与喜爱，这首单曲登上英国排行榜第6名，而Sade的辉煌故事从此展开。同年，Sade推出处女作Diamond Life（钻石生活），分别获BPI奖「最佳英国团辑」与葛莱美奖「最佳新进艺人」的肯定，而这张专辑在英国排行榜的停留时间更达 98 周之久，其中一首Smooth Operator跻进全美流行榜Top 5。随即在1985年获得第27届葛莱美“最佳新进艺人”奖座，并于1986年成为美国“时代”杂志的封面人物。

S.H.E不久前发表的新歌加精选牒中一首《紫藤花》唱的非常清新、自然，熟悉的旋律萦绕耳边久久难忘，原来它就是西城男孩（Westlife）多年前一首悲伤情歌《Soledad》。
