　对于爵士音乐发烧友来说，可能会认识四大爵士女伶——Ella Fitzgerald、Billie Holiday、Sarah Vaughan、Nina Simone，不过对于音响发烧友来说，可能会听Carol Kidd的发烧唱片。事实上，Carol Kidd的专辑不难买到。

Carol Kidd，生于苏格兰，15岁就加入了传统的爵士乐队，在1960年代开始她的演唱生涯，1990年代初参加了当时很著名的“爱丁堡爵士音乐节”，由Frank Sinatra的慧眼挖掘到她的声音。其实，我并不是非常感动于她所唱的歌，总觉得有点儿不够喉的感觉，不过，对于她的年纪来说，还拥有年轻如30多岁少艾的歌声，我也实在感到非常惊讶。

Carol Kidd一直是英国音响名厂LINN旗下的台柱女歌手，她的歌曲尤其受到音响发烧友所喜爱。对于爵士歌曲，也许听得最多的还是黑人歌手演唱的爵士歌曲，或是白人学黑人唱腔的歌曲，而Carol Kidd的歌声，如她的肤色一样，没有黑人歌手浓浓的爵士味，却也很宁静、自然和温暖，唱的歌曲多以抒情为主，歌声也很甜美。

Carol Kidd的演唱，感觉上就是，她的歌唱凸于乐器之前，空间感极佳，每一个发音、牙齿磨擦声、呼吸声都能清晰地听到，典型的人声发烧唱片。爵士乐器声容易让人放松而逐渐进入梦乡，而Carol Kidd的歌声又使我神游。乐器声、人声加起来，能让人很放松地入睡。
